The main development was in the cutting head, where testing was very positive, but what were the changes to the Moving Edge GR8 safety cutter? First of all, the head has been reinforced with the addition of extra material. The material itself has been upgraded to a higher grade of zinc. Pressure tests using the new material withstood up to 64 K of pressure, or 640 Newtons. The "standard" GR8 head model will no longer be available. User feedback on the new cutter determined that it works well across all applications, making the standard model obsolete. Field of application: There has been a recent trend for GR8 users to use the beak as a blade, which is not what it was designed for. We have shortened the beak to eradicate this problem and thus reduce the risk of breaking the head. The GR8 is still the most suitable cutter for protecting contents inside packaging.
